Happy 1st Birthday Miranda!!!

It's true Miranda Rae is 1 year old. Miranda had many up and downs during her first year of life. She is truely a miracle baby to Audrey and Michael.

Miranda is in great health and doing great. Miranda is now saying "dadda" and baby jibber. Miranda has quite the little personilty now. Miranda is taking formula, baby food and some table foods. Thanks for everyones thoughts and prayers during the last year.

Miranda is now 9month old, hard to believe. She now weighs 12lbs 3oz and 24inches long. Miranda is now starting to eat baby food. She loves sweet potatoes and has just started on greens beans. She is not a fan of green beans. Here are some pictures of Miranda and her cousin Brody that were on 10/04/09. Updated by aunt April.

Miranda went to the Neonatologist on Wednesday for a check-up. She no longer has to have oxygen but still wears the heart and apnea monitor at night for a little longer. Miranda no longer needs to see the Neonatologist she just see the Pediatrician now. Miranda now weighs 8lbs 12oz, 21 1/2inches long and head is 14 1/2inches. Miranda has one eye exam to make sure her eyes have healed. Miranda is alert and social. When Miranda hears another baby cry she starts to cry to get attention. Miranda is smiling a lot now.

Sorry, that I have have not updated the blog for a long time. Miranda came home on April 05, 2009. When she came home she was on 1/8L of oxygen and heart and apnea monitor. Currently Miranda is on 1/16L of oxygen at night and heart and apnea monitor. Miranda currently weighs 7lbs 8oz and 20inches long. Miranda is taking her feeds without difficulty. Miranda is currently taking 4oz of formula/breast milk at a time. By the end of June Miranda will hopefully be off the oxygen and monitor which means that her lungs lungs are working adequately. Her eyes almost completely healed and she will not have to surgery. Overall the doctors very happy with her progress. Miranda is truly a miracle baby. Thanks to everyone who kept Miranda in your thoughts and prayers.
Miranda has a new cousin that was born on May 23, 2009. His name is Brody. Brody weighed 7lbs 12oz and 20inches long. Miranda and Brody weigh almost the same size and the same length.
Audrey and Mike are going to start updating the blog now. I (aunt April) apologize for not keeping the blog update the last couples months but I was busy moving into our new home and getting ready to have a baby in May.

Tuesday 3/3/09- Miranda is now 8weeks old and 32 weeks gestational. Miranda now weighs 3lbs 2oz and is 15 1/4 inches long. Miranda had her pin rose taken out on Monday and it is healing on its own. Right now the doctors are saying that she does not need surgery at this time. Miranda started breastfeeding today. Miranda still has a OG tube. Miranda is now on a Nasal cannula at 2 1/2L. Miranda was switched to nasal cannula on Friday. Miranda is able to wear clothes and is maintaining her body temperature. Audrey and Michael are able to help with Miranda's baths now.

Sorry, that the blog has not been updated in a few weeks. I am Miranda's aunt I started the blog and was able to keep the blog up for a while and then I got busy this last couple weeks. I want you to know that Miranda is doing great. Miranda is now 7weeks old and 29weeks gestational. I got to see her today(02/21/2009) she has gotten so big and Audrey got to put her in a dress today. The dress is actually a baby doll dress that came with Miranda's cousins Easter dress. She is so cute in the dress!! Miranda's skin color looks better and she is starting to chunk up a little. She has little rolls on her thighs now.
This month Miranda has been growing, healing and gaining weight. Miranda now weighs 2lbs 9oz(02/21/2009). Miranda has been around 2lbs for a while and this week she has gained 7oz. Miranda is now taking 22ml of breast milk every 3hours. The breast milk is fortified(nutrients and calories). Miranda requires more calories than a normal baby at this time. Miranda receives her feeds via OG(tube in her mouth). Her bowels are not leaking as much. Miranda still has the pin rose drain in and they are talking about taking it out later this month. Miranda may need surgery on her intestines but the doctor today said Miranda's drainage was so minimal they are hoping she may heal on her own and not need surgery. This week February 15-21 Miranda went from the vent to C-PAP to nasal cannula and now today at noon back to C-PAP. C-PAP is a continuous positive airway pressure. Miranda's chest x-rays are starting to look a little hazy so that is why she had to go back to C-PAP.
Miranda had two blood transfusions this week. So now she has had a total of 14 blood transfusions.
This week Audrey got to start holding Miranda like a normal baby and wrap her in a blanket. Audrey and Michael real enjoy getting to hold their daughter everyday. Especially now that they can see her face when they are holding her.
Overall two Doctors have said her recovery is miraculous. The Lord is answering our prayers. Please continue to Pray for Miranda. Thanks!!

There will be a Benefit for Miranda on February 28, 2009 at the A.V. Spillman Building in Jamesport, MO. They will start eating at 12:00p.m. and an auction at 2:00 p.m.

Day 32- Miranda weighs 2lbs 1oz. Miranda had a good day today. Miranda does good when Audrey and Michael hold her everyday. Miranda's intestine still need sometime to heal but she is tolerating feedings well.

Day 31-Audrey got to hold Miranda for two hours today. YEAH!! Overall Miranda had a good day. Miranda is tolertaing her feedings every three hours.

Day 30- Miranda gained 10grams today. Miranda is now receiving 10ml of breast milk every three hours. Miranda is out growing her ET tube (which is the tube in her mouth that is connected to the ventilator that helps her breath). They are talking about putting her on C-PAP. We will have to wait and see what the doctors decide. Miranda has period that she holds her breath when she does not want somebody to touch her or does not like it when the nurses go to mess with her. They put Miranda on the CPAP and she did not tolerate it very well so then they tried BIPAP for while and she still did not tolerate it very well and her blood gases were not good. So Monday evening they intubated her and placed her back on the vent.

Day 29-Miranda now weighs 2lbs. Go Miranda!!! They lowered Miranda's vent settings again today. Miranda is up to 8ml of breast milk every three hours. Audrey said that Michael did better with changing Miranda's diaper today.

Day 28- Miranda is now 4weeks old!! Miranda received her twelfth blood transfusion tonight. Miranda is now up to 1lb 15oz. Miranda was started on caffeine tonight to teach her breath on her on. They have lowered the vent settings again and she is breathing some on her own. GO Miranda!! Audrey said Miranda is keeping her eyes open more and looking around a lot. Audrey got to change a dirty diaper tonight is was Miranda third bowel movement.
Miranda had blood cultures drawn today and x-ray taken of her abdomen. Miranda had some redness around her pen rose drain and they are wondering if there is a infection at the pen rose site. Miranda has not had a temp and all her other labs that were drawn today don't show any sign of infection yet. Miranda is up to 8ml of breast milk every three hours. Miranda is still having bowel movements and Michael got his chance to change his first dirty diaper and took two diaper because Miranda started having a bowel movement when Michael was changing her diaper. Michael still needs practice on changing diapers.

Day 27- Miranda had a good day. She is now up to 6ml of breast milk every three hours. Miranda finally had a bowel movement(pooped) today. Actually she had two bowel movements today. Good Job Miranda!!!! They decreased the vent setting again today.

Day 26- Miranda had a good day today. They lowered her vent settings again. Miranda is up to 4ml of breast milk every three hours. Miranda now weighs 1lb 13oz.

Day 25- Audrey and Michael had a meeting with doctors tonight and the doctors said there is a 50/50 chance that Miranda may have surgery on her bowels and then there is a 50/50 chance that her bowels will heal on there own. The doctors said that things look good so far for Miranda. They lowered the vent settings again. Miranda is now off her pain medicine. Miranda likes it when Audrey and Mike read to her when she is being held. When Miranda is being held her vital signs are good and then when she is put back in the isolette her vital signs go crazy for a little while until she gets settled down.
