Day 4- Mike and Audrey say that Miranda had a good night on 12/05/09. She is still on the oscillator. Miranda received a vitamin shot, and the nurses say that Miranda did not like getting her shot. Miranda has lost weight, she now weighs 1lb 3oz. It is normal for babies to lose some weight after birth. Miranda was needing 100% oxygen earlier today when they were backing down the oscillator. Backing down the oscillator will stress the lungs less. Now she is currently on 40% oxygen and the oscillator. The x-rays are showing some lung disease at this time and they are talking about taking her off the oscillator and putting her back on the vent. Her blood gases are good at this time. Miranda got first feeding of breast milk today at 4:00p.m. via tube in her mouth. The nurses will know at midnight if Miranda tolerated the feeding and if she did they will give her more breast milk. She is currently receiving 1ml of breast milk a feeding. Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks to everyone who has called, visited, text, emails, and responds on the blog.

Miranda had a good night. Miranda is taking the breast milk feedings without difficulty so far. The nurses placed a ear muff on Miranda today because she is sensitive to noise. Now she doesn't jump when Michael talks to her. Audrey said that Miranda is starting to open her eyes. Miranda is recieving her third blood transfusion today.

  2. You do not know me, but I am a proud parent of a 23 week +5 day micro-preemie twin. I found out about your baby girl through Olivia's blog. I think Ryan posted our blog link (www.ok-corral.blogspot.com) in one of his comments. First, congratulations on a beautiful baby girl. Please know that you are not alone in your experience. A blog is a fantastic tool to keep people informed, but to also let off a little steam. The preemie community is something that was invaluable to us while our little man was in the hospital. Please read our blog if you'd like and/or ask questions if you need to. My son, Rhys, was on the oscillator for 6 long weeks and had a terrible amount of lung disease. At his discharge two weeks ago the doctors had nothing but great things to say about his lungs, he sounds crystal clear! Stay strong and take it one day at a time. We will keep your Miranda in our thoughts and prayers.
