Day6- Miranda had ultrasound of her head and it did not show any bleeding. YEAH!!! The x-rays showed that Miranda has fluid in her lungs and the left lung's alveor sacs are not inflated. The good thing is that the x-ray looks clear today. Her gases were good this morning. She is still on the vent at this time. Miranda got her PICC placed today in left leg. They had trouble with the PICC bleeding and changed the dressing three times. She is recieving her fourth blood transfusion today. It is not uncommon for a for a person like Miranda to recieve blood transfusions at this time because they are not able to produce as much blood and plus they are taking blood from her to do her labs everyday. They are going to pull the UAC and UVC lines in the next couple of days. Miranda is now taking 5ml of breast milk every 4hours via the tube in her mouth. Audrey said she was spitting up a little after her fedding when they were visiting. Miranda is having a few spells where her heart rate drops and her O2 sat drops, she is able to recover on her own except the nurses had to stimulate her twice today. (they stimulate her by rubbing her chest)

That is wonderful that she doesn't have a brain bleed. Olivia did not either. That is great for these micropreemies. Logan had a small grade 1/grade 2 brain bleed, but it resolved itself. Around day 28, they usually do another one to check for PVL. Brain bleeds are often indicators of that, so hopefully Miranda will be clear there as well. Thinking and praying for you.
ReplyDeleteAs an interesting side-note. A blood transfusion for a preemie is only about 1 teaspoon of blood.
