Day7-Yeah Miranda is now one week old on Friday night at 6:29p.m. We have started the roll coaster road today. On Saturday morning Audrey and Mike were told that Miranda's blood gases were off and that they might have to put back on the oscillator. The x-ray this morning showed that the right lung was starting to collapse and the left lung still has not changed. When Audrey was down visiting this morning they were suctioning Miranda and when suctioning her it was yellow in color. The nurse told her it could be infection, but the Doctor would be in later and check Miranda. Miranda also was spitting up milk after feeding. She is up to 6ml (6cc) of breast milk every four hours. They final stopped her feeding today because she is having stomach problems, so they are going to let her rest awhile. In the afternoon Audrey got a report that Miranda's blood gases were better and that they are going to keep her on the vent for now. Then early this evening Audrey and Mike got the call that they were going to call a Pediatric surgeon in for Miranda because they had to relieve the pressure off of Miranda's abdomen because she has a perforated bowel. The surgeon put two small holes with pen rose drains (rubber tubes) in her abdomen. Which this procedure did relieve the pressure off her abdomen. Surgeon said that the holes will hopeful heal on their own and that hopeful her intestines will heal on it's own because there is no surgical procedure that they can do at this time to help her. Miranda has been given medicine to help with the pain and she is also on antibiotics. Miranda had her UVC line pulled but she still has her UAC to get blood gases from. Now Miranda has UAC (umbilical line), PICC line and they placed a PIV in her left hand. Audrey reports that Miranda's blood gases are still good at this time. Please keep Miranda in your thoughts and prayers that everything will heal right.
